Hello Friends,

This is our third protest against rent increase! This is so unfortunate that even after logically established the fact of burden to the student no authority came up with concerned solution. That means we are paying taxes to the government and they don’t care about us! With our money Studierendenwerk run their monopoly emperor, but they are not doing their job, instead putting burden to students’ shoulder! In the name of non-profit organization, they are acting as authoritarian by neglecting the fact that has been raised by the students. Even though sometimes we found them fucking fascist when we found that our posters of protest just took off or removed from student dormitories! Are they afraid of student movement? Actually, they should! Because if tomorrow we all the students living in the dormitories decide to go for a rent strike, unfortunate they have to close their non-profit store. If not then they definitely have hidden treasure which they already profited from students.

I want to share some experience of Studierendenwerk’s unjustified role that they practice in the name of non-profit. In 2018, I was living in Gescherweg studio apartment, I used to pay 220 Euro including everything for 17-meter square room. After renovate those apartments they increased 100 euro extra. In the same year in 2018 I moved to family dorms in Gescherweg where I had to pay 450 euro for 30-meter square. Now I need help from the expert of mathematics because my math is not good that much. Can anybody tell if you pay 220 for 17-meter square, then for 30 meter square why I have to pay 450 euro. It’s not like that the place I moved that it was fancier and well facilitate. It was kind of same. It supposed to be even cheaper considering fact of student with family are living there.

Similar factor I have found that I discussed on our first protest, In the end of 2017 I was living in Gremmendorf one of the studierendenwerk dorm where I used to pay 250 euro for 6-meter square. You can hardly move in that room, it is like a cage. After 3 months, they increased the rent to 275 euro. I immediately moved from there and got the room with 220 euro for 17-meter square in Gescherweg. No one ask them question because most of the students are depends on them, so they got the chance to play with it. Also with international student they cheat, because the house contract they give to the student it’s in German, and an international student who just came to Germany with no knowledge of German are being forced to sign those contract without even knowing what actually written on it. Without food student can survive for several days but without accommodation we cannot survive. That means as like food and education, accommodation is our basic rights! Their violating our basic rights.

This is not end here, studierendenwerk also do business with caution money. Many international students including me already faced that naked attitude from them. One of my friends used to live in studirendenwerk dorm, when he moved out he claimed his 300-euro caution money. Studierendenwerk charged him 250 or 260 euro for the cleaning purpose though he cleaned everything before he moved out. He was shocked! I was also shocked after knowing this. He complained about it but he didn’t get that money back. When I also moved out from Studierendenwerk’s dorm they charged me 65 euro for painting though when I hand over my apartment there was not a single spot on the wall or anywhere. Also, I had to wait for three months to get my caution money back. There are lots of stories about studierendenwerk like this, unfortunately nothing exposes those corporate hypocrites because in Germany there is no mainstream free press.

Today morning I was reading a news about current situation in Germany, in that news article it was discussed that rising wages cannot compensate for skyrocketing prices. In that article, they analyzed the announcement of Federal Statistical Office. Which clearly showed that rapidly rising wages, which increased by 4 percent over the first three months of the year. Over the same period, consumer prices increased by 5.8 percent, meaning that real, price-adjusted earnings in Germany dropped by 1.8 percent over the first quarter. Many Germans are therefore understandably concerned about rising prices. According to the survey, 38 percent of people are finding it harder to pay for necessary goods, a 10 percent increase from just four months ago. 14 percent of respondents said that they would probably have to take out a loan to maintain their standard of living, while 71 percent indicated their concern that high inflation will damage the prosperity of Germany.

Now come to the fact of the students. Already 90% of international students in Germany have been financially affected by the COVID-19 crisis. From the survey of German Parity Welfare Association clearly indicated that around 30 percent of all students in Germany are living under the poverty threshold. Students living alone were found to be the worst affected, with a massive 79 percent of them living in poverty. Many experts demand to increase scholarships for students that means instead of investing in military it’s important to invest in emergency situation of marginalized student community.

Considering all the facts we are terribly fucked by the authorities, but do they know fucking without consent is a rape and sexual assault?
